Tony Parmenter

Tony is the host of Downloadable Context.

Starting his game development career in 2001, Tony worked for over a decade at Krome Studios in Brisbane, where he was variously an Environment Artist and Level Designer on all four games in the TY the Tasmanian Tiger series. He was also Lead Artist for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on Wii, PS2, and PSP.

In his post-Krome years, he has dabbled in commercial and industrial visualisation, and a variety of contracted work. He is currently an Industry Lecturer at SAE Brisbane, where he primarily oversees units related to Game Design and Game Production. In this role he wears many hats, functioning as a facilitator, mentor, lecturer, tutor, producer, executive producer, Socratic questioner, and notorious punster. He also co-hosts The 1st 10 Minutes, a games analysis podcast.

Tony has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the University of Queensland, where he majored in Zoology and Behavioural Ecology, and he is currently studying for a Master of Counselling. He grew up doing field research on sea turtles with his family (also zoologists), and he hopes to one day hike across Iceland.
